A hotel has 60 rooms, each either a single room for one guest or a double room for two guests. When every room is full, the hotel holds 96 guests. How many double rooms does the hotel have?
Answer: 36
s + d = 60 and s + 2d = 96. Subtracting: d = 36 (and s = 24).
