Answer: 0.49 or .49 or 49/100
No rain on one day has probability 1 − 0.3 = 0.7. For two independent days: 0.7 × 0.7 = 0.49.
Common wrong answers
- If you answered 0.4
- 0.4 is 1 − 0.3 − 0.3, subtracting both rain probabilities from 1, which double-counts the days.
- If you answered 0.09
- 0.09 is 0.3 × 0.3, the probability of rain on BOTH days.
- If you answered 0.7
- 0.7 is the probability of no rain on ONE day; both days need it.
