Geometry and Trigonometry practice question

A circular running track has a circumference of 240 metres. A runner goes from one marker to the next, and the two markers are 60° apart as seen from the centre. How many metres does the runner cover?

Answer: 40

60° is 60/360 = 1/6 of the circle: 240/6 = 40 metres.

Common wrong answers

If you answered 60
60 is the angle, not the distance.
If you answered 80
80 uses 1/3 of the track (a 120° arc).
If you answered 120
